The Puget Sound Section honored individuals who have been ACS members for 50, 60, and 70 years at a dinner held on August 13 at the Bellevue Hilton. This year 12 Puget Sound members are in the 50-year membership anniversary category, 15 are in the 60-year membership anniversary category, and 5 are in the 70-year membership anniversary category. Celebrated in-person at the dinner were Dr. Charles Anderson (70 years), Dr. Judith Andrews (50 years), Mr. David James (50 years), Mr. Gordon Kapke (50 years), Dr. Melvin Koch (60 years), and Mr. Edward Suzuki (50 years). Each anniversary celebrant at the event spoke briefly about their involvement with chemistry. Attendees that included members of the PSS Executive Committee, other local section members, and family members of the honorees were treated to fascinating stories of noteworthy accomplishments and the transforming power of chemistry. Carole Berg (PSS Alternate Councilor) organized and emceed the event in her usual warm and cordial way.
