NORM 2024 and the WCC

The ACS 2024 Northwest Regional Meeting (NORM) was held in Pullman Washington, from June 23- through June 26, 2024. The primary organizers were the Washington-Idaho Local Section and the Chemistry Departments at Washington State University (WSU) and the University of Idaho. The theme of NORM 2024 was Breaking Borders: Building Bonds.

The WCC luncheon was organized by WCC member, Despina Strong who is also the chair of the Puget Sound Section (PSS) WCC. The luncheon was held on June 24th, 2024, at the Junior Ballroom of the Compton Union Building. 55 individuals signed up and/or were invited guests and 45 individuals attended the luncheon including 10-15 students. The President-Elect of ACS, Board members and other NORM dignitaries were in attendance.  The Keynote speaker was Dr. Joan Broderick from Montana State University. Joan was selected because she received the ACS 2019 Alfred Bader Award in Bioorganic and Bioinorganic Chemistry. She also graduated from WSU. The title of her talk was Radical SAM and the Catalysis of Difficult Reactions in Biology. Here are a few photos from the luncheon.
