Chart Your Own Path – Hybrid Lecture on October 24th

A talk entitled Chart Your Own Path will be presented at Seattle University on October 24th at 12:30 p.m. by Dr. Alshakim Nelson, University of Washington Department of Chemistry. This event will be in-person at Seattle University (Room TBD) and also available real-time via Zoom. The event is intended for students, but anyone is welcome. Dr. Nelson will share his experiences as a scientist in industry (10 years at IBM research) and now as an academic for the last 9 years. He will discuss career decisions along the way, and the impact that diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts have had on his career, as well as the careers of many others.  It will be in person at Seattle U., and via Zoom webinar for others who can’t attend in person. Many of you know him and are aware of his amazing path, including working with two chemists who each received a Nobel Prize in chemistry and working at IBM before joining the faculty at University of Washington.
